Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine being right in the middle of an exciting lesson and hearing "Crash, Boom, Ouch!" Unfortunately, this has become a weekly occurrence in our classroom due to our broken easel problem. A new easel will allow all students to be safe and see from any spot on the carpet during instruction.

My students are energetic and inquisitive first graders!

In our inner city public school, I will have the pleasure of working with 25 first grade students. The children come from high poverty and are eager for opportunities to learn. While their learning styles and abilities vary, they all jump at the opportunity to participate in engaging instruction and class discussions.

My Project

A new easel would provide an intimate educational setting at the rug, as well as a place for my students to refer to for helpful charts that we create together. Many of my students are visual learners and would greatly benefit from having a place to view important information. Having a place in the classroom where they can refer to for the most recent lesson's learning points would support their needs. This will also encourage my students to use new vocabulary words in their writing that we just learned in class discussions! Being able to create t-charts, web diagrams, Venn diagrams, and more together on the rug encourages students to get involved in their own learning. I want my students engaged and involved with the with the help of an easel!

My students deserve the chance to be able to build a sense of community together at the rug and in small group settings.

A new easel will allow my young learners to be safe and see from any spot on the carpet during instruction in all academic areas.
