My students work hard on developing their reading, writing, and speaking skills every day. They are expected to practice multiple skills during each reading or writing unit of study, such as summarizing, inferencing, or drawing conclusions. This can become confusing if they don't remember which skills they are currently working on or are distracted by the drama of middle school life.
These large, easel Post-It notes will clear up any confusion students may experience.
The skills for each unit will be written on the Post-It notes on an easel in the front of the room. That will give me the opportunity to refer to them on a daily basis. It will also give students the opportunity to reference their daily learning objectives as needed.
It is critical students stay focused on the skills they are trying to master if they are going to learn and grow.
