My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I want them to believe in themselves the way I do. The students in my classroom are comprised of general education students, as well as students with various learning and emotional disabilities. On top of educational and emotional disabilities, many of them have experienced trauma in their lives and have difficulty coming to school.

With that being said, how can we close the achievement gap when students do not have the necessary materials to succeed?

The typical student in my class reads below grade level and many struggle with basic phonics and number sense. Their desire to achieve success in school is the driving force behind our desire to give them the world.

My Project

Displaying lesson charts, magnetic letters for fundations and ten frames, or writing on a dry erase board are all hard to do when you do not have a surface to do so! A new easel that has a lined dry erase board, and spot to hand charts, and magnetic board that allows the students to interactively learn using manipulatives. Experts say the best measure of someone's knowledge is the ability to do. This new easel will allow for teachers to make more lessons interactive and for students to learn by doing. The easel also provides a space for charts to be constantly displayed
