Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a self-contained class of sixth graders at an elementary school. The students come from a tight-knit community and our school is much loved by students and parents alike. More than seventy-five percent of my students are English Language Learners and about ninety percent qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch.

These students have the biggest hearts and such a passion for learning.

They thrive with hands-on and experiential learning and overcome obstacles in their personal and academic lives everyday. They are a group of strong and persevering humans.

My Project

Students will use these art supplies to practice various watercolor techniques to apply step by step to an art project. We will work together and use video tutorials to help each student experiment with different techniques and apply it to a finished art piece.

Watercolors and art time promotes mindfulness and helps students build their motivation, creativity, and positive mindset.

Especially during distance learning, this is so important. Students need a creative outlet to express themselves and to get a break from the constant screens and rigorous academic assignments each day.
