Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Earth Day is a great event to help create and build awareness around global health. Last year through the help of volunteers we created the First Schoolwide Earth Day ever at our elementary school. This year I want to replicate the experience but we need better supplies to create this experience!

Our class because of grants through Donors like you/Donorchoose projects we have become 2nd/3rd grade environmentalists!

We are hoping that through funding of science materials we can continue to inspire our school with greening community service projects! We are requesting engaging environmental and earth science materials to help our students understand how they can help create a more sustainable globe. Our school district right now is not focusing on science materials due to economic hardships and any materials we can get from outside donors would greatly help us. Last year our students created an indoor garden with a Growlab donated from Donorschoose.org and the plants we grew were then sold. We used the money to help adopt a leopard 2 acres in the Africa. Scientific projects like this and the science base from the requested materials create scientific learners who want to give back to the EARTH!!!

My Project

I am requesting materials to fully engage children in understanding of the earth! Why its in danger from pollution, how animals environment is affected, and what sustainable practices can we learn about as students for environmental justice! We want to continue the tradition of Urban Conscious raising in our low income population. We are currently "greening" our urban school and creating avenues for our students to take their level of learning to a new place. Currently our school has gone through construction and with the newness comes a new since of urgency. We are creating gardens, outdoor science areas, and these materials would be great to add to their level of engagement.

I have been fortunate to have past donors who care about the environment and education give to my past projects centered around science.

I would love for you to look at various projects to help the environment that are on my DonorsChoose website. It is my highest expectation of myself and our community to instill in children a since of empowerment through science and the sustainable practices they will have to learn in order to help our earth! Thank you.
