My Students

My school has a high ESL population of students that are either learning English or increasing their skills. They are eager to learn daily despite coming from a high poverty background. The parents are committed to helping their kids learn even if they can't contribute monetarily to necessary materials. I strive every day to make sure students have access to what they need to be successful. Knowledge is power, and you have a chance to change the life of many.

My Project

It's never too early to practice those fundamental reading skills. Many of my ESL students are various reading leaders and many are still learning the language. For those who are learning the language, I'm requesting a Circle Time chart that helps with early reading and math skills. For the students who are ready to read, I'm asking you help in funding a set of beginning readers to help students work on sight words, one to one correspondence, reading left to write, and understanding our purpose for reading. Many of my ESL students are ready to start reading. Anything will help!
