In working with some of the littlest learners, the resources I am asking to be donated will not only help with fine motor skills, but will allow for learning to be engaging and exciting. The students will have the proper pencils and crayons designed to help with the tripod grip. The literacy and math games will offer something fun for the students while reinforcing skills that are being taught in prekindergarten. The books will be added to the classroom library and used as read alouds, which is an integral part of the reading readiness skills necessary for this age group.
These supplies, games, and manipulatives will help to transform my prekindergarten classroom into an engaging, playful, and purposeful learning environment.
Most of my students come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Being able to provide school supplies that are early childhood friendly will help with keeping costs down for these families. I have taught this age group for many years and seeing them excited about coming to school and learning is my "why". They acquire the necessary social skills and peer interactions that come through cooperative play. By receiving these resources, I will be adding opportunities for this to continue being an integral part of my early learners' educational setting.
