My school is growing and this year I had to move my science room to a new room. My new classroom is smaller and does not have the right furniture.
I teach early childhood science in a school in which 54% of the students receive free or reduced price meals.
I work with 230 students from pre-k to second grade. They are full of questions, love to experiment, observe, and learn more about the world through science.
My Project
I teach the youngest students in the school, but the chairs and tables in my classroom are for older children. It is hard to have pre-k students climb into chairs that are designed for 4th or 5th graders. My students need the appropriate furniture so they can sit comfortably during science class.
My new classroom is also small and very crowded.
If we had the right size furniture, we would also have enough space for everyone to move around and for all of our science materials to be accessible to the children.
