My Students

I am a Physical Education teacher in a suburban school in Indianapolis. It is a pre-k through 8th grade school. The students at my school are very diverse. They do not have many opportunities to learn or play sports outside of school. Most of our students come from low income households. The safest place for my students and players after school is in the gym participating in after school athletics. The most popular sport at our school is basketball. Students are not able to afford certain equipment that is necessary to play basketball at our school. Our school also does not have the best equipment for games that are played at our school as well as training equipment.

My students have really enjoyed every opportunity playing basketball this school year.

I want to help enhance their interest and their skills in basketball with some better equipment. This will give them a better chance to play for sports teams when they reach the high school level. I have several basketball players 5th grade and up that want to improve on their basketball skills. Our school needs more equipment for practice and for games so every player can get better.

My Project

This equipment will also help with my girls and boys basketball teams 5th through 8th grade.

The basketballs from this project will help with several shooting, passing, and ball handling skills. The basketballs I want for this project is needed for games and practices as well. I would like all of my players to be able to have game like basketballs in their hands to develop their skills in dribbling and shooting. Most of the basketballs we have at our school are for outdoors. We need indoor basketballs that are in game quality. The basketballs that I have in this project are nice and should last the school a long time.

This basketball equipment will help my middle school and upper elementary boys/girls basketball teams. This will give them a better chance to play for sports teams when they reach the high school level.
