Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Being surrounded by a class of opinionated and intelligent curious minds never ceases to amaze me. From our year of remote learning, back to in-person instruction, I find that students are resilient, adaptable, and motivated to learn. My days are a constant shower of excitement, motivation, and pride from my lively group of fourth-graders.

The moment students entered campus after a year of digital instruction, their faces lit up, and they were determined to make this year the best one yet!

Each and every student brings their own unique perspective to our classroom, making my group of vivacious fourth-graders full of intellect and personality. Each day I spend with these amazing learners is a valuable experience, and I look forward to accompanying them on their journey through fourth grade!

My Project

Having access to a variety of engaging and relatable reading materials is crucial for a young developing reader. Books can provide windows into different experiences, as well as mirrors for our own lives. My students need contemporary literature that they can relate to, and get lost in during our precious silent reading time. I serve a diverse group of enthusiastic learners, many of whom have become accustomed to reading on digital reading platforms in order to access books.

All students deserve to be able to pick up a book and see themselves in a character or become introduced to a new best friend.

After the past year of learning remotely, my students are thrilled to be back in the classroom and savor every opportunity to sit down with a new exciting book. Since school has started, I hear cheers in the classroom when I announce a visit to the school library. I want my classroom to elicit the same response for students with a love for reading. My students will be incredibly grateful for these new titles in our class library, thank you so very much!
