Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students need to be in a classroom that is both engaging and inviting. They need to enjoy being at school. My goal is to create an atmosphere that fosters collaborative and comfortable learning and socializing. Students also need a place where they can go and just be themselves and unwind, which in a large high school can be difficult.

My students come from a variety of backgrounds, many of whom go home to empty houses at the end of the day.

They need a place where they can truly feel at home and comfortable where they are free to make mistakes and learn to work with others to achieve a common goal. Many of these students struggle in academics and athletics, and participating in an e-sports club is their chance to shine.

My Project

Many students need a place to go, destress, and build friendships when they are in school. These items will allow me to provide a safe, fun environment for students wishing to find a way out of their shells and create friendships. I have been bringing my family's personal Switch to my classroom for club meetings, but it would be better if we had one available that didn't have to go back and forth home when we meet. The Switch and the docking station will be housed in the classroom, used at lunch and after school during our e-sports meetings and competitions. The pro controllers will allow equal opportunity for students who do not have their own controllers to bring to school.

Video gaming is an excellent way for students to relieve stress and anxiety in a safe environment.

It also allows the students who may not otherwise be athletes a chance to participate in a sport filled with friendship and camaraderie.
