Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

These materials will allow my students to grow different types of vegetables and plants that can be taken home, cooked in class, used for projects or to save seeds for next yearʻs plantings. I currently teach an agriculture class that will be expanded into two classes next year. I use the class as a vehicle for ethnobotany for my Hawaiian Language Immersion students, so they can access the ʻike (knowledge) and skills that their kupuna had with growing and the uses of plants, be it for food, clothing, natural dyes, and fibermaking.
