My Project

My students are bright, hard-working 8th graders. They love to question authority and the status quo, and they enjoy engaging with meaningful concepts about justice, truth, and power. As their teacher, I'm consistently blown away by their insights.

I'm so excited to engage my students in discussion-based literature circles centered on different dystopian novels.

Literature circles are a highly effective way of structuring units in the middle school ELA classroom. Students are in charge of and responsible for the novel selection, the roles in the group, and what gets discussed at each meeting. It's so exciting to see students take charge of their own learning!
