My Students

I love my students and my community! I have amazing students who are driven and always strive to succeed. These students exhibit a wide range of academic skills that demand a variety of ways to enhance their learning.

As a teacher, I try to provide engaging, rigorous, and differentiated activities every day.

These children are growing up in a fast-paced world and I want them to be prepared to keep up with these demands and acquire 21st century learning skills.

My Project

It is important for students to read books where they can identify with the characters. Readers with dyslexia are no different. They need books that can comfort and enlighten them as they struggle with their learning difference. They need books that offer empowerment and hope. Additionally, parents and teachers need access to books about dyslexia to inform and direct their teaching.

It is critical for all of us to step into the shoes of a person with dyslexia to know what they experience.

Doing this will help us build empathy for others. Approximately 20% of the population have dyslexia and many of those are never diagnosed.

For my project, I would like to build a "dyslexia library" for our school. I would like to purchase books for students, teachers, and parents to check out as often as they'd like. I have chosen many wonderful children's books that have main characters with dyslexia. I want all the children with dyslexia at our school to know and understand that they are not alone! I want other students to feel empathy and love for those students with learning differences. I also want parents and teachers to have a place to go to find resources as they journey through the education system.
