Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are unforgettable. They are colorful, they are vibrant and they have strong personalities. Since I teach in a self-contained setting of twelve students per classroom, we all quickly develop positive, joyful relationships with each other. From the moment that students walk in the door, it is a joy to be around them, to see them sharing their breakfast with each other, asking if anyone needs certain eating utensils, inquiring how their latest sports game went, checking the day's class schedule. At the close of the day, it is equally heartwarming to be around them as they help each other pack up, retrieve jackets from the coat closet, gab about plans for the afternoon or the weekend.

In addition to conversing, my students love to constantly be active and creative.

Give them a Rubik's cube, coloring pencil, or puzzle, and you can see the curiosity shining from them, as they scrunch their faces to solve that puzzle or draw that image. I've purchased Rubik's cubes and kinetic sand for them in the past but would love to be able to do so much more.

My Project

I am going to use Teachers Pay Teachers lessons to provide students with lessons that are engaging, rigorous, and thorough, but most importantly, accessible. My students need a lot of support and assistance even when they are in the classroom, so it is extremely important to provide lessons for them in a remote-learning setting that meet their needs and allow them to be successful academically.

Through selected lessons from Teachers Pay Teachers, students will be able to feel confident as they go through various Social Studies lessons on their own at home.
