The students in my classroom come from a variety of socio-economic backgrounds which makes teaching them not only a challenge but an adventure as well. We are a school-wide Title I school and all students qualify for free or reduced-priced lunch. My goal as a classroom teacher is to help as many students as we can come out of poverty to provide better lives for themselves. If I can grab their curiosity and encourage them to be lifelong learners, then they will be well on their way to changing their circumstances.
Our school is the largest elementary school in our district with almost 800 students in grades pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.
Many of the students at our school come from poverty stricken homes and sometimes the best part of their day is being with us in a comfortable learning environment.
Having a digital camera in our classroom will allow me to take photographs as my students do fun activities throughout the year. These photographs can be put into Microsoft Word documents for the students to write about and put in their memory books. The photographs will allow the students to vividly recount the experience and write exciting and innovative stories. This will help to improve their writing skills, as well. These pictures will also be great to share with parents and family thorough our classroom website.
Technology is a wonderful asset to a child's education.
This project will be very rewarding and educational for my students. My students will learn about the use of technology, and they will also be able to improve their writing skills. Many of my students do not have access to technology outside of school and being able to use it here at school will better prepare them for their future.
