My Students

I teach a group of 25 students with special needs ranging in grades from 2nd-5th grade.

My students' disabilities range from Autism to ADHD and many others in between. These students learn in different ways and paper/pencil tasks do not always motivate them. We do a lot of hands on, interactive learning where the students become a part of what they are learning about in order to fully understand the concepts and meet all of their IEP goals.

My Project

These math magazines, would help my students blend their learning of reading and math into one seamless activity. My students loved Scholastic Magazines when they were younger, so why not bring back that love with math related tasks included. Each magazine incorporates reading, math, problem solving and popular culture so the students will be very engaged. These magazines would be a great supplement to what is already happening in their math classes, while reinforcing skills and challenging students that need some more enrichment.

Your donations to this project would help the students I work with be able to have more resources to use to reinforce and challenge mathematical topics being taught.
