Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are starting a leadership class at our school that will be teaching the 7 Habits of Highly Successful People. We want to empower our students to be successful and contributing members of our community.

These supplies will provide our students with the opportunity to discover, and practice leading proactive lives, accomplish goals, and work well with others.

It will also help us create an environment that does not feel like a typical classroom. The theme of our classroom is growth. We are using trees and other greenery decorations to help students understand the growth process of leadership and social and emotional learning. The seat rockers and floor cushions give the students preferential seating, not typical desks and chairs. The light covers, vine of leaves, and the lanterns give the illusion that the classroom is in the middle of a forest, much different than the dry desert scenery they are used to. The fidget toys are to help students proactively cope with overactive emotions. The cart will equip the teachers to push into specific classrooms to further teach social and emotional learning and leadership allowing this program to have a mobile presence on campus. The two filing cabinets are to store teacher supplies as there will be two teachers teaching 950 students. The supplies will help in creating the perfect classroom to allow students to feel comfortable enough to dive deeper into becoming self-aware which will help them set realistic goals and learn what leadership looks like in their lives.
