Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Have you ever tried to write with a dull pencil, or even worse, one that breaks while you're writing with it? Help my little friends have plenty of pencils to write with, and a way to resharpen their pencils when needed.
My students are pre-kindergarten students who are all from low-income families.
The majority of my students, or I like to call them, my little friends, come from non-English speaking families. These precious children have had very few early learning experiences, which is why they have earned a placement in my classroom.
My Project
Having a variety of pencils will entice my little friends to write more. We use pencils in centers all throughout our classroom. Pencils help us draw sketches of buildings we create in our block center. Pencils help us to write music that we can play with our instruments. Pencils help us to write menus, take orders, and write on our calendar in our Dramatic Play center. Pencils help us to write stories, trace stencils, draw pictures, and copy words in our writing center. With all this writing, we'll also put a pencil sharpener to great use.
Writing with pencils helps my little friends to improve their pre-writing skills and fine motor development.
In addition to writing skills, pencils help my little friends to communicate their big, bright, intelligent ideas, and a pencil sharpener will help us to keep our pencils as sharp as their ideas.
