Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are Bilingual Learners and many of them have only been in this country 5 years or less but have learned the English language alot. Many still have to learn but know Spanish very well. I am teaching them Biology in a Dual Language environment where the content & vocabulary is heavy in both languages. Many of my students have not experienced real science experiments and hands on lessons. With these tools I want to be able to help them better understand the content as they deserve to experience this because science is hands on!

The ultimate goal is not just for them to take the regents and pass but also to create a fun learning environment that they will remember for a life time.

Where they will remember looking at cells in Ms. Hercules science class and identifying the different parts of a cell through lessons, readings, & experiments. Letting my students create these memories & running home to tell everyone what they are doing/learning that is so cool! Giving them that chance to explore!

The microscope and cell kit is for their experiments they will do this year in Biology labs. But the printer to give me easy access to print vocabulary for them in both languages & have scaffolded materials for the students in need of it the most. The cleaning supplies to maintain a safe clean lab environment.
