My Students

I work in a Title 1 school in a low income area of Staten Island, NY.

A typical day in my ICT classroom is filled with energy. My students are constantly learning through talking, sharing, working, helping, debating, and collaborating with each other. They love hands on work, being picked to come up to the board, and participating in group activities.

My Project

As a fifth grade teacher, I want to make my classroom an inviting place that facilitates learning. Having this board will help my visual learners during lessons. We will be able to to share ideas and create new ones. It will also hold manipulatives, books and chart paper my students can use during lessons, group work, or while working in stations. These materials are all needed to teach effective lessons throughout the day, and having them somewhere "on hand" will make for smoother lessons and transitions.

The easel I am asking for will help create a space for my students to communicate and thrive in.

By having this dry erase easel and manipulatives needed for my lessons on hand, they will be more engaged in lessons. I have many English Language Learners in my class and the board will give them the ability to reinforce their reading and writing skills throughout the day.
