My Students

I teach in rural Nevada. The school I am at provides a 100% free breakfast/lunch program. A large portion of my school is Hispanic, with many students being second language learners. My school is K-5. We have over 500 students attending our school. I have had the privilege of teaching music to them for 13 years now, after spending 16 years in the regular education program.

After a year of teaching music from a cart in the students' classrooms, surrounded by desks and chairs, with little opportunity to move, I am looking forward to next school year and being back in my classroom.

My Project

Kids love drumming! Kids love being active! A purchase of stability balls, tub bases, and drumming sticks will enable students to be actively engaged in music-making.

How awesome to combine the two "loves" with cardio drumming.

Students will be able to use stability balls set on a base and create beats and rhythms while getting a great workout! Please help my students gets these super-fun tools to use in music next year! After a year of music in their classrooms, surrounded by desks and chairs, being able to move while they drum in the music room will re-energize all of us!
