My Students

I teach in rural Nevada. The school I am at provides a 100% free breakfast/lunch program. A large portion of my school is Hispanic, with many students being second language learners. My school is K-5. We have over 500 students attending our school. I have had the privilege of teaching music to them for 13 years now, after spending 16 years in the regular education program.

After a year of teaching music from a cart in the students' classrooms, surrounded by desks and chairs, with little opportunity to move, I am looking forward to next school year and being back in my classroom.

My Project

These materials will help my students create beat and rhythm routines while being physically active! After a year of inactivity due to Covid restrictions, my goal is to get my students up and moving ~ and they may not even know they're learning at the same time!

Our first Drums Alive project was fulfilled so quickly that we are ready now to get the remainder of our materials with Drums Alive ~ Take Two!

Most of our classes are about 25 students, so this project will help round out the number of Drums Alive! so that all students will have their own "instrument".
