My Project

Recently I took a course on how to create a percussive ensemble using Afro-Peruvian instruments. I thought this workshop was so interesting and I wanted to incorporate some of the techniques learned to teach my students with needs students how they too can make percussive music!

Then I realized something crucial: I don't have ANY percussive instruments in my music classroom!

That's why I am here, asking you for help! Please help us get some of these instruments as it will give many of my students who are having a hard time accessing the material (I have many students in wheelchairs or with gross motor functioning disabilities, which makes it harder for them to learn instruments like guitar and piano, but would still enable them to access percussive learning). It would mean the world to me AND them to give them this access. Please help us get these instruments!!!

The reason I put this under the category of: "warmth, care, and hunger" is because music and art help students access their emotions which is a basic student need. Without instruments, we cannot fulfill this basic need. Help us get there!!!
