My Students

Imagine moving every four years of your life. Will the school I'm going to have similar things as my current school? Is often a question I hear from students. I work in one of the largest elementary schools in the county comprised of over 600 students.

Most of the families are military families.

Therefore, we have a 40% mobility rate. Specials classes, like Music, are the glue that keeps our students motivated to learn. Our students are bright, imaginative, and ready to learn.

My Project

Drumming comes natural to most students. You can hear students tapping away in almost any classroom. By adding drums into my Music class I will be able to "tap" into their natural talent and help them create more elaborate rhythms.

Learning the basics of how to play rhythms correctly will impact them musically and academically.

Learning how to read and play music helps students read better and assists in understanding Mathematics.

We live in a global society and drums are a perfect way to explore music from around the world. The curriculum we will be using is "The Rhythm is Here" by Dancing Drum.
