Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help us build community and promote personal wellness to our students and staff through a variety of free before and after school wellness classes!

Many students do not learn healthy ways to self regulate and cope with stress which affects their ability to learn.

Building healthy and positive school relationships increases student success.

By focusing on drumming and stretching, our students and staff will practice a form of mindfulness to enhance their wellness. When students exercise with their teachers, a bond and trust is formed between the two groups. Wellness improves both physically and mentally.

Two educators at our high school were recently certified in trauma informed yoga, SEL practices and mindful movement. We are building community, teaching healthy coping techniques and improving personal wellness. I want to increase involvement by offering a fun, staff and student combined, class that incorporates yoga and cardio drumming!
