Help me give my students a hands on learning experience in music with a xylophone so we can learn to read and write music while the variety of drums will help us form a drum circle.

My Students
I teach music in a K-5 Title I elementary school. My goal is to create a classroom where students can have fun and develop a love and lifelong interest in music. My new school has limited supplies; especially drums and Orff instruments. We are also in need of a rug and flexible seating. Playing instruments has always been a favorite activity of my students in my past school and I would like to bring that same program to my new students.
My Project
Students love music when it's a hands on experience. Picking up a drum and learning play rhythm patterns with your friends is fun and engaging. It helps to create an atmosphere of community and belonging in the music classroom. I've taught drumming circle for many years in my previous schools and have seen how children of all abilities have been successful. It allows for creativity with improvisation as well as learning to read notes rhythm values.
I would love to bring this experience of hands on musical training to my new school.
Providing these basic tools for my students would be the first step in creating a fun, meaningful music education.
