Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My 2nd grade students rock! I teach to two second grade classrooms at a Title I school, where over 95% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. In spite of the hardships and challenges my students may face, they arrive at my classroom every day with a smile on their face and ready to learn.

Our school serves students from a low income and high poverty area. My students deal with challenges in the classroom and at home. When a child walks into my classroom, I want them to feel special and forget any hardships they may be going through.

My Project

The love of reading needs to begin at a young age. I am in need of books so my students can enjoy independent reading time. My classroom library is very outdated and I am looking to vamp it up!! In having these books my students will opportunities to choose books from different authors and interests.

During class I will announce"Drop everything and read" and students will take out their book and read independently for 10 minutes.

I have chosen different books for varying interests such as "Diary of a Wimpy Kid,"Fly Guy",Amelia Bedlia" and "Fancy Nancy" book sets. I believe if my students will learn to enjoy reading with these book sets!
