My Students
My classroom is an interactive studio where students come and explore technologies and problem solving. Our goal is to have a maker studio space where students can come freely and make whatever they could possible imagine. A robot, sure! Explore projectile motion, let's build a trebuchet.
My students are excited to explore and create something amazing.
I have, all in the same class, drama kids, athletes, 4.0 students, special needs students, students who have to work to support their families - truly the whole spectrum of kids. The classes that I teach are mixed classes; this means that an AP honors student works alongside a special education student. This creates for the most unique working environment where each student is learning not only about technology but also something about themselves.
My Project
We currently only have two drills that the all my classes share. This makes for a lot of time waiting for the drills to become available. These new drills would provide the class with equipment that will eliminate waiting and allowing them to get to more projects. The added time also gives students the opportunity to be more creative than before. Some students also have never used a drill in their lives; teaching basic skills will provide each student the opportunity to become that much closer to self-reliance.
This truly would help my class create masterful works of art.
Each year the sets have become bigger and better and we strive to empower students to become critical thinkers. Having the tools to let them explore their creativity will be invaluable.
