Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I’m a preschool teacher for 3-5 year old students with special needs. My diverse group of students are learning to engage with materials, share and interact with typically developing peers. With this outdoor equipment, they will have opportunities like the rest of the school to engage in fun learning through play. The materials will support social skills, such as teamwork and taking turns, and physical skills, such as throwing and spatial awareness.

The addition of a basketball hoop into our playground promises a multifaceted approach to childhood development that promotes language, social emotional and gross motor development.

It will foster physical activity, promoting motor skills and coordination in a fun and engaging way. The height of the Basketball Hoop is perfect for successful shots, which will also encourage confidence. The items in this project will be utilized by our school's youngest learners in our outdoor play area. They will give my preschool aged students opportunities to interact with their peers in a fun and exciting environment.
