Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Students walk into the room and start the do now. They see the SMART Board up front and are instantly engaged. They love technology and bright colors. That is what I want for my children. Total and complete engagement. These new tools would allow me to engage them and post their work for all to see.

My students all have potential.

Many of them come from tough economic situations and have harder lives than you or I can imagine. Many of them don't have computers at home or access to technology that you and I take for granted. Having access to new laptop or iPad will give them an opportunity to better know how to use different tools they normally wouldn't have a chance to experience. My students all need a chance to pursue something. By giving them the tools to study, browse, or even look up basic information, you will be giving them a shot at a better life. We hold down the fort in the South Bronx but by giving you will be providing an even greater opportunity.

My Project

Students will use the different applications on the Ipads, especially ones that allow for skills enhancement. I will be able to keep better track of their performances as well. Students will use the computers for multiple tasks. They include preparing PowerPoint presentations, having class discussions through the school website, better ability to monitor their grades, and looking up information. A printer will allow me to print out student work. Every student who puts in maximum effort and does well wants their work displayed, even the ones who act like they don't. It will enable me to have a print rich environment that creates a warm and welcoming room.

These donations would have a HUGE impact on my classroom.

Students love working with technology. If I gave them the same assignment, with the only difference being that one was on the computer and one was handheld, they would all do better work on the computer or Ipad. Students would be more excited to come into the classroom. They would see their room vibrant and full of color. Students would be thrilled with what was given to them and better able to learn.
