My Students

Imagine moving to a new country. You walk into a classroom and you may not have ever had any formal education before. You have never read or written and you have this smiling teacher talking to you in a language you don't understand. These are the students I teach every day.

I teach STEAM and Computer Coding in a Title I school where 85% of my students are English as a New Language Learners.

The children at my school spend more time at school than they do at home. When the school day is over, most of them go to an after school program. Any part of their day that could bring fun and new experiences to them would be welcomed with excitement and enthusiasm. And this is what brought me to DonorsChoose.org!

My Project

My students would love to draw with Dash. We have Dash robots in our classroom and the possibilities are endless. On code.org, they learn how to program different art designs. Connecting those designs with Dash, would be amazing! They would bring those drawings to life with Dash sketch kits.

Imagine being able to create a picture and watch a robot draw it!

This is possible with the Dash sketch kits. Having the whiteboard mats is essential to having our projects work. Running them on the mats we would be able to see where there are mistakes and we can go back and debug our programs multiple times without wasting paper.

Please help my class bring robotics into full STEAM with these kits.
