My Project

Art is a fun time for my students to explore, show their creativity and enhance their self-esteem! When students have something to look forward to in school- they want to be there and many times will do better academically and emotionally.

Art is one of the key ways that many students who do not do well academically are able to show their talents, express their feelings and feel good about their final products and themselves.

Drawing is one of the basic skills in art where many students need practice in order to gain confidence. I try to choose lessons where it teaches my students step by step in order to achieve a successful art product for everyone, no matter their art ability.

The Teachers Pay Teachers website is such a wonderful resource for me. For someone who is new at teaching art to my entire school (grades K-5), this site is an invaluable resource and wealth of ideas. I am here to find tried and true art lessons that other teachers have done with their own classes. I have a few art lessons that I've found that I would really like to purchase that will use drawing techniques to create stunning pieces of art that I think will engage and interest my students.

Paper is always a much needed supply for Art. Teaching over 700 students each week uses quite a lot of paper for each project that I do. Having a ready supply of the right kind of paper is a must!

I believe my art projects will excite, inspire, and motivate all of my students to succeed and feel good about themselves no matter what their socioeconomic background may be.
