Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students can draw. Several years ago I heard a working local artist say that he felt like as long as students can draw they can make anything. From that moment I have dedicated myself to learners being able to draw what they can imagine or see.

Currently, I have first graders sitting in front of pumpkins and practicing overlapping, contour lines and how to add a cast shadow.

I have all grades currently drawing flowers in a vase in preparation for Mother's Day. Every class is reviewing lines, shapes, this idea of space and folk art. Learners proudly display their art in the halls and some of them have requested time to slide their piece in the laminator. I love my job! Students love being in the art room and embrace the learning process.
