This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
Students foster their individual creativity in the dark. I believe it is crucial to create more academic opportunities for students to develop their creativity and arts expression, while also developing key vocabulary! These opportunities create more meaningful and engaging learning experiences for all students!
Dramatic play doesn't just mean, "Okay kids, here's 45 minutes of unplanned play time.
Have at it." When planned as a vocabulary activity, students can use specific vocabulary and create the real-world environment where these words might exist. When learning the word 'cashier', students might write out their own position/name tag, utilize the plastic food objects, and man the cash register. As students play and socialize, they master their new vocabulary and exchange background knowledge!
