Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My classroom will be comprised of twenty, amazing students between the ages of four and five years old. My students represent a lower income community on the southside of San Antonio. Our classroom provides students the opportunity to learn and grow in a safe, calm, and play-based classroom. It is my belief that pre-schoolers are the best age to teach. They are so full of wonder and are eager to jump right into activities without reserve. Pre-school truly is the foundation of our first friendships and our first schooling experience. A positive supportive experience will help provide students the base for a lifelong love of learning. Pre-school helps develop strong, confident, independent learners.

My Project

These Items will give my students the opportunity to learn through dramatic play. The costumes are realistic and are culturally relevant; jobs they see in their daily lives.

Dramatic play is vital to kids' social emotional learning and it provides children the opportunity to work through problems they experience in a safe environment.

Building prop boxes helps to organize a child's thoughts and allows for children to play through their daily lives. Prop boxes also allow children to learn from others and the things they have learned in their lives.
