My Project

I am asking for these item to ensure that my students have a quality dramatic play area within our classroom. Dramatic play is so critical at this stage of development. Not only does it help the students social emotional learning but it also can help with their academics as well. As a teacher, I have learned so much about my students on a more personal level by watching them play. The information that I recieve from how a child plays allows to often relate to that student easier and create a stronger bond with them.

Right now, I have a dramatic play area in my classroom, but it still needs a lot of improvement.

The main object in my dramatic play area is my kitchen, which the children love to use. In previous years, my students have used the kitchen as a restaurant. They had multiple roles during this play- a cook, a waiter, and costumers. However, my most recent class loves to play family at my kitchen. Imagining that they are a family where the parents are cooking and serving the kids dinner. One thing that I have noticed would really add another level to this play is baby dolls. This is why I have added the Lots to Love ethnic baby doll set to my list as well as various accessories.

I have added items such as the Aeromax Career Costume Set. These costumes would be loved by my students and would help them play and mimic workers within our community. My students are always interested in playing veterinarian and doctor but sadly I currently have no costumes or props for them to play with.

These costumes would really help elevate my students play experience and would help us investigate the roles of workers in our community further.
