My Project

I'm getting ready to teach a nonfiction literacy unit on the War of 1812. This is definitely unfamiliar territory for my second graders and immersing ourselves in dramatic play will help provide context, joy, and engagement. I'm requesting period appropriate accessories, such as fascinator hats, gloves, handheld folding fans, and faux pearl jewelry to use as theater props while acting out pivotal scenes from history and to aid the kids in visualizing the world they're about to delve into. It is my hope that these tools make this difficult unit more accessible for my English language learners.
