This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Oh the things you can think when you think about Seuss!" Help us bring the world of Dr. Seuss to the stage by providing us with costume pieces for our play "Seussical."

I teach middle school drama / speech grades 6 - 8.

Our Title I school district is in a high-risk community where most students are minority and low-income. Though our students struggle at times to succeed, they are passionate, imaginative kids who deserve the chance to experience a creative learning environment. We have an after-school drama club program where students can participate in 2 full-length plays, improv, speech team and Thespian society. Students of all ability levels and learning types play a role in the creative process. This past year, over 110 students participated in our program throughout the year. We try to find a place in our theatre for any child interested in the performing arts. Our students act, sing and dance on the stage. They learn technical skills backstage as well.

My Project

This year, we are tackling the much loved, "Seussical," a musical based on the stories of Dr. Seuss. As we will have anywhere from 40 - 60 students acting on stage, it is sometimes difficult to provide enough costumes for all of the students. We hope to use the Cat in the Hat accessories, various hats, animal costume pieces, wigs, etc. to supplement the costumes that we make, borrow, and already have.

Your donation will make it possible for more children to have costumes that help tell the stories of Dr. Seuss to our audiences.

We would especially like to go visit the 3 elementary schools in our district and the better our kids look, the more engaged the kids will be.
