My Students

My students had a great time earlier this year with our first author study units and they are excited to discover other authors and their stories.

I have an amazing group of third graders and I have enjoyed watching them become more interested in reading through our author studies. They are filled with an excitement for learning and adventure. My students come to school each day ready to learn and curious to know what kind of challenges I will work them through for the day. They are hard workers, great thinkers, and team players.

My Project

During March we will begin our next author study on Dr. Seuss. Dr. Seuss does an amazing job of teaching life lessons through rhyme and silly stories. Our lessons will focus on identifying themes and morals of the Dr. Seuss books. We will also work on a biography research project in preparation for the students writing their own biographies on a favorite author.

Having access to more of these books for my Dr. Seuss author study unit will help my students to be able to build a greater depth of knowledge of story elements, connections to different texts, and they will be able to also make personal connections to the stories.

Books open up new worlds and possibilities for students. I want to continue to build upon their eagerness and love of reading.
