Help me give my students the opportunity to imagine themselves in vital roles within our community. This project focuses on roles such as a veterinarian and an ice cream distributor.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We as a 3K team have 22 wonderful 3-K general and special education students who are brilliant and amazing. Our 3-K classroom is often the first school experience for young children, so creating an age-appropriate classroom structure and routines is essential.
Our 3-K classroom is organized in centers with specific areas for activities such as reading, building, creating art, sensory activities, library, and dramatic play.
The kids have such active imaginations and they love to participate in center time activities. They learn so much through their center exploration.
My Project
Being a veterinarian is a very important role in our community. Our children love animals and love taking care of their stuffed animals. The Doc McStuffins play cart will allow them to emulate the role of a veterinarian and take care of their animals.
Through dressing up and playing roles of vital members of our community the children will learn what roles good citizens do in order to keep their community strong.
These centers will help children with hands-on imaginative play and they will learn to take turns and share with others. This will help ignite imagination and a sense of wonder in all children so they can discover themselves and their passions.
The ice cream cart will be fun and educational center for the children to enhance their literacy, math, and social skills.
Literacy: Students will “read” the picture labels on the shelves as well as the pictures on the variety of props. They will make signs, use play order forms and menus to enhance the experience. They will have note pads to write their orders on and serve their customers.
Math: the children will be counting the number of scoops as they make the ice cream cones. They will read the numbers on the menu and order forms. The students will engage in real world problem solving experiences and use number talks to order their favorite ice cream. They will have play money and a register to organize their earnings.
Social Skills: students will be learning self regulation, taking turns, sharing, impulse control and expressing their feelings through the interactions at the ice cream shop.
