Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I'm an educator in a Title I school in the Bronx. Our school is comprised of many students that are first and second generation immigrants as well as students with disabilities. While we have students that come from very hard-working and decent families, we also educate a population of students that come from homes stricken by poverty and dysfunction. I educate students with disabilities whose disabilities are often compounded by their living situation. My students disabilities vary from Autism to Emotionally Disturbed, but these are just labels. I want my students to defy every label that has been assigned and/or implied because of their circumstances.

My students inspire me to be better every day because they are amazing and are deserving of my absolute best!

They are curious, motivated to learn, and hard workers despite the hardships that they face. They educate me as much I do them! My goal is to have my students recognize that they should never limit their potential and their future does not need to be determined by their circumstances.

My Project

I am asking for the 3Doodler Bundler Kit, two tablets with protective cases and a HP chromebook. The 3Doodler Pen will allow my students' imagination to soar as they see their creations come to life. Each project using the pen will be specifically tailored to my students' academic, social and emotional needs. We can use the pen for our next unit in geometry, the pens would allow the students to create three dimensional shapes and angles, giving them a better understanding of geometric concepts. They can also use the pen for our upcoming unit in force and motion for science. My students can create figures with different slopes and predict an objects motion on them. My students can also create their vision boards using the pen to show their hopes for their future in 3D.

My special education students will finally be able to have an alternate way to show their intelligence with the use of the 3Doodler Pen.

My students often have difficulty expressing their thoughts through writing and speaking, being able to express their thinking with the use of this pen will boost their confidence. So many of my students are incredibly creative but struggle with traditional ways of expressing themselves.

The tablets and chromebook will allow my students to look up the visuals they need for modeling and inspiration. They will also serve as an invaluable resource for our reading and math blocks. The students will be able to access MyOn and the Scholastic News website among others for their literacy needs. They will also be able to access our math websites, like Frontrowed and Xtra Math to build on their foundational math skills. I know that your donation will make an incredible impact in my students academic, social and emotional well-being.
