My Students

Our students are a terrific group of International Baccalaureate learners who have a tremendous amount of energy and enthusiasm.

I often joke that from the moment they enter our learning environment, they are like the Energizer bunny...they keep going, and going, and going!

I admire their energy and their love of reading, writing, digging into history and learning how to become independent thinkers who will someday make a positive impact on the world! Many are very serious inquirers who enjoy searching for answers to their questions and sharing their new knowledge with their peers. As a school community we enjoy collaborative learning and we work hard to support one another as we grow into life-long learners and thinkers!

My Project

I was inspired by a recent Facebook post about a school that decided to increase the wellness of their students throughout their district. They saw the hallways as spaces that could be reimagined to activate all students by placing physical activity decals on the floors and walls. The Let's Get Moving! Activity Mats provide the same, if not better opportunity for us to create stations that our children in K-8 can utilize throughout the school day. Here in Michigan, we often have indoor recess due to the cold temperatures in winter and most times, our students are just sitting in a hallway! The Let's Get Moving! mats will provide a more positive and active indoor recess experience. The mats will also turn transition times into exciting times! There's no harm in taking a few extra minutes between classes to stop at a station to reenergize, refresh and reinvigorate the body and mind!
