My students are wonderful children who face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Our school is located in a very high-poverty area of our city. Many students seek the safety and routine of the school day to provide stability in their lives.
In my classroom, I strive to be a figure the students can depend on for their academic as well as emotional needs.
Often, the students who enter my classroom have entered into school already delayed in their reading and social skills. The students work hard every day to try to "catch up" to their ideal academic levels. I am very proud of my students and their work.
My Project
The materials I have requested are student-friendly books that will teach about the important events in early American history, particularly the founding of our nation and fight for independence from British control.
Students are naturally interested in their environment and these books will help them understand the foundations of our country.
The books I have selected are educational, yet kid-friendly with lively illustrations and writing styles to pique the curiosity of even the most indifferent student.
My goal is to help students learn basic American historical events. With this knowledge, students will become more productive and intelligent citizens of our nation.
