My Students

I provide counseling to students in grades K-6 and for students in the Autism Spectrum Disorder Nest program. Our school uses an inclusive model for education, where all students are welcome and accepted for the unique individuals they are.

My students benefit from calming centers where they can take a break from being overstimulated by the school and class setting.

In these centers, it is helpful for students to have use of a visual timer, as well as, materials to meet their sensory needs. These moments provide students with a sense of comfort and help them regulate back to a place where they can rejoin class lessons and activities.

My Project

Students will use these tools to help meet their sensory needs, regulate their emotions and enable them to return to their educational goals.

These tools serve an important role in the daily lives of students, especially those who require extra emotional support.

Students will use them in the designated calming area in the Counseling office, as well as, borrow them for use in their classrooms throughout the day. Reducing stress and expelling excess energy helps students to remain focused on the lesson. They also help students regulate emotions, thereby, decreasing outbursts, impulsive actions and other negative behaviors that disrupt the learning process for all students.

A variety of options allows students to make choices that work best for them.
