My Students

Hello, I'm a SETTS provider at my school in Brooklyn. SETSS is specially designed and/or supplemental instruction provided by a special education teacher that can help your child stay in the general education classroom. SETSS may be provided for as few as three hours per week and as much as 50% of each school day.

SETSS happens in two ways:

Direct Instruction: The special education teacher may work directly with your child (or your child and up to 8 other children together) and provide direct specially designed and/or supplemental instruction to your child. The special education teacher may adapt the subject matter (“modified curriculum”) and/or use visual aids, highlighted work sheets, simplifide directions, and other kinds of “modified instruction.”

Indirect Instruction: The special education teacher may also work with your child’s general education teacher to adjust the learning environment and/or modify and adapt instructional techniques and methods to meet your child’s individual needs.

In order to better build my students tool set for general education classrooms there are essential materials I need to make learning interesting and fun. My students are eager, warm, & hard working. Please help me to help them. Thank you

My Project

Preferred seating is a great way to switch up the normal classroom settings, it gives students' a chance to express themselves while learning. Students with disabilities will love that they can "pick" which chair they would like to learn on. It also gives students with disabilities a choice of where and what to sit on. Often, they have assigned seats and are stuck there the whole school year. Having a variety of bean bag chairs, bean bag couches, stools, seats and seat cushions will maximize any learning environment and reduce maladaptive behaviors in the classroom. I can stress enough on how important it is to learn comfortably.
