Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are hard-working math and science students whose families care a lot about their success. They come from low socio-economic backgrounds, with almost every student qualifying for free or reduced lunch. Over 90 percent are Hispanic, and many of them will be the first person in their family to graduate from college.

My creative, curious kids would greatly benefit from additional math and science resources.

In order to do hands-on projects and labs, we are often in need of renewable resources and technology they can use to prepare for high-school level chemistry, physics, and biology. Thank you in advance for taking the time to read about my kids, and please let us know if you can help us reach our goals!

My Project

This new microscope will make a BIG difference in my students' learning. Not all microscopes are the same, and a high-quality adjustable-stage microscope will allow my students' the same technology and opportunities for hands-on learning that all students deserve. Having a new microscope will enable my students to learn first-hand about cells, enable them to perform experiments using real-world materials, and will help prepare them for taking advanced science classes in high school. Early positive experiences with hands-on science can also help students succeed academically in college. This microscope will help my students perform labs, develop keen observational and critical thinking skills, and may even inspire several of them to enter STEM fields as adults. A microscope is a vital piece of educational science equipment. Please help our dream come true!
