My Project

I work with students in a Life Skills Kindergarten class. My students are at the developmental stage where they are exploring and learning about their world. As an English as a Second Language teacher, my focus right now is building their oral language skills.

Children use pretend play as a way to learn about the world around them and build language skills!

They make connections in school to what they also see at home. Having a dollhouse will allow them to make those connections and help them enter the pretend play stage.

Pretend play is an amazing way to build language. Children would be encouraged to say or repeat the names of everyday objects and talk about family members. This would be a fun way to boost their oral language!
