Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
The students at SAES love to read and visit our library! Often times a few individual students start a reading trend that causes a whole grade to ask for the same titles to be available in our library!
Right now, the 3rd and 4th grade are requesting "dog titles" like Diary of a Pug and Dog Man.
Whenever possible I try to fulfill these requests because student enthusiasm drives reading development! When students are excited about a new book title they will often read and reread books. This level of reading is what is needed for students to become fluent and independent readers and that is my number one goal for them!
I am looking forward to offering our students the books that they are looking for and boosting their engagement in reading!
