My Students

The students in my class are exceptional. If I was to describe them in a typical way, I would say they are a mixture of teens with mild to moderate special needs. The problem is that does not describe them at all.

People say kids this age don't care; I believe they care the most.

Every year I have the best students who are the cream of the crop. They are the hardest workers and the most compassionate individuals. I am amazed by how they seem to care about each other and the world.

My Project

The use of calculators in my new Algebra class will have a tremendous effect on student learning on a daily basis.

The district I serve is in such a high needs area that they have been qualified to give free and reduced-price lunch to 100% of the students.

If the students cannot afford lunch, most certainly a calculator will not be a priority for their families.

These calculators will be used daily by students. Quite frankly, if I don't get these calculators, I do not know how we will get through the requirements that will prepare them for college.
